brant burington
Brant Burington began his volleyball career after playing soccer for 15 years.
He made the switch in his junior year of high school at Gompers Secondary after completing three classes of volleyball at Mesa College. Brant played Middle Blocker for Gompers and was defensive captain. He continued his volleyball career playing for UC Berkeley.
Too short to play middle blocker in college he made the transition to defensive specialist for Cal’s team. During and after college Brant played amateur beach volleyball competing in tournaments all along the California coast. He began his coaching career when his 11-year-old twin daughters expressed interest in the sport.
They joined an Eastlake Starlings 12 and under team and Brant was asked to coach. He coached his twins for six seasons with the Starlings while coaching girls age 10 through 17 and some with special needs.
Coach Brant focuses on loving the sport first, and then gets into the intricacies of the technical skills of volleyball. He is very interested in teaching the girls proper form to avoid injury, maximize the length of their volleyball career.
